Interview 1
Lauren -- Student of Domestic Abuse
Purpose:
I used Lauren as our actor to re-enact the story telling of Emily's Mother. This is because, emily mum did not want to be on the camera or go through that story again so we asked her to write it down then decided to find someone who would willingly play this part. I think this worked well, this is because Lauren is a very pretty young girl, this means that when airing the programme and people seeing how fragile and young she is they may feel more sympathetic and listen harder due to the story she is telling. I think that this would be platformed on television as its to spread awareness of what does happen and how painful it can be for the victim for the rest of there life.
The interview itself could be put into newspapers or magazines, anywhere that could raise awareness for young and older people who go through some form of domestic violence, male or female.
The reasoning for this interview was because we wanted to get an emotional response from the viewers, we wanted to draw in the attention of the audience and really inform them that this does happen and there are things you can do to stop it or get out of that situation before its too late that you can no longer do anything about it.

Appropriate Setting:
When deciding where to film we needed to film somewhere that was accessible. This meant that, we decided to film at College. This is because, everyone knew where it was, thus resulting in no confusing. As well as this, ti had the correct lighting and equipment for us to conduct a professional looking interview. This is because, when filming at someones house you do not have the spot lights or the ceiling lights with different filters meaning that your footage could come out slightly pixilated or un-professional. Not to forget, Lauren did feel comfortable filming here which made it an even easier choice.
Recording Method:
I will be filming with the College equipment, i have asked for a DSLR camera. This is because, the other camera's are very un-reliable and i have had past issues with them. Not to forget, the DSLR camera are much more efficient due to them being SD cards and they give out a much better picture due to it being HD filming. We also had 2 SD cards both at 32GB. This is because although the interview was only a few minute long we did not want to risk running out of space. Not to forget, we also had to film some brief re-enactments on the same SD cards meaning that if we got two we was sure we would have enough space on them. Along with this we got Tie Mic. This is because, we didn't want to use a boom mic due to the shadow it would reflect onto the back drop. Not to forget, we wanted to make this look as professional as possible. As well as this, a Tie Mic picks up minimalistic background noise and its very simplistic as it just clips on to the top. Moving on from this, we also rented out a tripod, this is because we wanted to achieve a steady shot. This meant that, if we had it hand held it would shake and become messy.
Ambient considerations:
I do not have any worries that any background noise or things will disturb us during filming. This is because we have rented out the Studio to ourselves meaning that no-one else is going to be in the studio at that time or even wondering around. Not to forget, its going to be half term. This means that, no one will be in the college anyway, you may see an occasional teacher or student coming in to film but no-one should really be there. This means that, there should be no disturbances or distractions.
The Mic that we have selected as i have said previously picks up minimalist background noise anyway so if someone was to walk in or past the mic may not even pick it up.
Talent Liaison Considerations:
When deciding on the talent we decided we wanted someone we knew and was familiar with. Emily mentioned her 'Best Friend' Lauren. Lauren seemed to fi tin with the criteria of the person we was looking for. This meant that, the liaising was mainly done through emily as i did not have contact with Lauren nor had i met her. We spoke with Lauren a few times as we had to confirm dates, times and scripts. This is because, although Lauren was on half term as well, she had plans with other friends as well as a part time job she had to attended too. This meant that, we found a day that suited all of us. Moving on from this, we spoke to Lauren about what she would be comfortable saying and doing, as well as running her through the script before the day of filming.
Structure
Question Formulation:We formed our question structure based around Emily's mums story. This is because, once we found out about everything she had gone through and started scripting we could then decide what we needed to say in order to get a certain emotional response from the viewers.
We wanted our interview to be very straight to the point and abrupt almost. We wanted it to be very dramatic and intense. This meant that, we didn't want to speak so much we wanted to interviewee to speak in depth and detail meaning out questions were going to be very short and to the point.
Scripting interview input:
My input in the interview was to be more detailed. Emily set up the interview and got the story going and one that had begun i took over and began to ask more detailed questions about how her parents felt and more about the struggles the family would have gone through. I included some Multi-Quesitions, Closed Questions and Open Questions to get a very broad response from the interviewee.
Structure Progression:
We introduced the interview with a very simplistic introduction as we wanted it to become more apparent as the interview went on. This is because, we didn't want to do all talking about what the interview was about, we wanted it to gradually un-ravel and become parent to the audience. I felt like this would make a stronger impact and draw in the attention of the audience.
When moving on to the middle of the interview we began asking more detailed questions about how she felt, what did she do, how did he hurt her, is she still scared, what did she do to deal with the process.
To conclude the interview, we summarised it briefly by just explaining what had happened in the duration of the interview and saying thank you to Lauren for her co-operation and asking her if she thinks this will help anyone else and what to do if they had been effected by anything she had previously spoken about.
Preparation
Client Liaison:I did not need to liaise with the client much as we new what we had to be doing due to the brief. This meant that, we only needed to liaise with the client over certain things like run through our idea, talk about when it would be bets to film and the health and safety risks to filming in certain locations. Once we had spoke about all this there was on further need to liaise with the client until post production.
Talant management:
When concluding on who our talent was going to be (Lauren). There was not much we had to manage. We had to briefly go over the script a few times to ensure she new exactly what emotional response we was aiming for and how we wanted her to talk and react to questions. Other than that, she kind of had a lot to play with in the sense she could answer some questions freely and of the top of her head.
Interview Questions:
- Today we are going to be taking about your traumatic event, what actually happened?
- How long where you too together for?
- What did he do, How did it effect your life?
- How did it stop?
- How did he keep you from leaving?
- What did your parents say?
- How did h retiring you if you don't mind me asking?
- Do you blame yourself for what happened?
- Have you been with anyone since the incident or can you not bring yourself to do that?
- How long has it been since it all happened?
These questions we created in advance and the talent did get to see some of the questions before hand but some we wanted to come from the heart and emotionally so did not inform her of some of them although she new the story and the details of the story meaning she was able to answer the efficiently.
